According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), your child should visit the dentist by his first birthday.  This "happy visit" will allow the doctor and/or hygienist to exam existing teeth and review at-home care.  The American Dental Professionals team is dedicated to starting your child on the path to good oral health.
